Deconstruction in progress

Renovations .... work in progress.
This month we are in the middle of kitchen renovations...

Crazy. The house is in chaos with the garage and guest room chock-a-block with furniture and stuff as we needed to empty the ground floor rooms so that the major task of painting the ceiling and downstairs zones could take place in advance of the kitchen fit out.

To say its a big job is a slight understatement.

There were a number of steps involved in getting the kitchen prepared. To begin with I needed to demolish the pantry and remove tiles from the area along from the bench breakfast bar plus patch a few holes here and there. I also had to enclose the area that had previously held a light which we very rarely used and didn't provide much light in any case as it was a fluoro pointing upwards. This turned out to be a few days over a few nights work and created much dust and frustration for Glenda. You can't make an omelette without cracking eggs and this was very much the case with the kitchen. We had Michael the painter on site working away on preparing to paint the ceiling which is a significantly big job in itself. After the first spray of white there was further work to Gap the ceiling and get a significantly better finish. This all added extra time and will mean we are running a temporary mash style kitchen for the next few days as well.
We have been and basically identified the lights needed to replace the lights and fans which were old school and removed completely for the painting.
We have also been on several trips to Bunnings to collect supplies such as timber and plaster filler but I have used and recycled as much as I can possibly use when repairing the wall where the tiles were removed.
A daily task for Glenda is mopping the floor as she can't stand the feel of dust under her feet – for me I just put on a pair of jandals and all is well. We each have our own way of dealing with the dust.
I also took some time lapse 360 footage of the deconstruction of the pantry and have been taking video and stills of the work in progress so look forward to a compilation of all that to head the site when I have a little more time on my sleeve.

Day 484 since diagnosis and day 482 of consecutive daily walking. Another 18 days and I will have walked 500 - like the Proclaimers except days not miles. And I will walk 500 more… at least.

So finally managed to get Dragon to work with my browser in Joomla! edit box which is a great step forward I must say.
I'm not sure what the problem was but like all good software I persevered and managed to get to work so now my updates will happen with more frequency as I can speak faster than I can type by a long long way.

More help with Parkinson's awareness and advocacy.
Have posted to the YOPD group to see if we can increase membership, attendance and interest. I have a few ideas to get attendees as its a little disappointing to have only a few folk involved each time when we have a quality speaker involved who willingly gives up some of their own time for our little group. Met with Michelle and Fiona from PQI to discuss what we should do with the group and what PQI think their level of involvement should be. Was a good meeting and the first time I've been to the PQ office.

Another monthly CCIG meeting was held and I am maintaining interest in this group. It gives an early insight into what research is being proposed locally and its good to be part of.

Walking.
Now over 480 days in a row without missing a daily walk. Its beginning to warm up in the mornings so am pleased about that.

Medication.
No Change to the schedule or positive impact. And for the first time in 480 days I left my lunchtime tablet sitting on my desk at home. Luckily I had a spare old tablet at the office so that was good enough for the day. I am fortunate that I have a bit of leeway with the medication unlike some of my other peers who are affected more quickly if they have a medication outage.

Research.
Still working to make the research links page a bit more useful, it was a simple list to start with but expanding to make better use of the info in it.

Pilates.
Pilates on a Saturday morning, with a new physio taking over. It's not as convenient as Wednesday evening but workable. Getting back into the groove.

PFU Boxing.
On Wednesdays I do non contact boxing at the PCYC Laing Park 11:30 - 12:30. Our trainer was away this week and unfortunately I missed the message it appears so had turned up at Sun Corp for the session – I was not alone apparently. No harm done but will talk to those about who needs to notify the masses when sessions are not being held. Looking forward to having a session again soon hopefully this week.

Social Outings.
Some upcoming events in the pipeline, but all subject to lockdown conditions.

Our picnic day out in September to St Helens Island in the Morton Bay was very interesting and a great way to spend the day - history and walking tour.

All events are subject to change at the moment and unfortunately its a case of roll with the punches and be flexible. I basically plan work to continue and will deal with holiday activities as they actually happen.

Work.

Head down and focus on delivery. Catch up is the order of the day. Many new projects in the pipeline and continuing to cleanup existing projects. Work in Toowoomba ongoing, some onsite and some remotely. I have had a steady stream of prospects so looking solid for the next few months.

Land Sailing.
Waiting for each Sunday to see what's happening at the track.... and have had a few other events happening.  Lockdown conditions mean no sailing. bah...

Otherwise for me its still so far so good.
Same Same.

And that is all for just now - keep a lookout for the next post and thanks for tagging along!
